iTunes Store Account

An iTunes Store Account is needed to download free games and applications for your iPhone and iPod Touch. You also need it to purchase songs from the iTunes Store.

Creating an iTunes Store Account
Open your iTunes and click on iTunes Store on the left hand side. Click on the top right "Login" button on iTunes and it will allow you to create a new account if you do not have one.
A Credit or Debit Card is needed to register an account on iTunes Store. All your purchases will be charge to the card. Free Games and Applications will not be charged.

How to install Applications?

You must have setup an iTunes account in order for you to start to download applications from the App Store or the iTunes Store. Credit/Debit Card is needed to setup the account. Free Apps that you download will not be charge to your card. Apps that has a price on it will be chargable if you download the apps.

There are two ways to download Apps to your iPhone or iPod Touch

1st way, via iTunes
1) Open your iTunes
2) Go to iTunes Store by clicking on the left menu
3) Click on the “Sign In” button on the top right corner
4) Enter your login details to sign in
5) Go to the Appstore via iTunes and download the applications you want
6) Sync the iPhone with your iTunes, ensure the Apps are checked to be synced.

2nd way, connect via WiFi, or using 3G/GPRS if you have data plan
1) Open Appstore via the icon on your iPhone
2) Sign In to the store if required
3) Search/Browse through the apps you wish to install
4) Click on the INSTALL button to add it to your iPhone
5) The Application will start installing on your Home Screen

*Note that you need an iTunes Store account to download applications, a credit/debit card will be required.
**Note that some apps will require a fee which can range from $0.99 onwards

Unable to download Apps?

Are you unable to download free games and apps in App Store? Please take note that your iPod Touch and iPhone are Country Based. Your iPod will prompt you that it is available  for purchase in your country iTunes App Store. For example, a Singapore bought iPhone or ipod Touch can download free games and apps using the Singapore iTunes Store.

The default iTunes Store in iTunes will be set to United States. You need to change to your Country Store if you are not from the United States. I will change My Store to Singapore as my iPod Touch is bought in Singapore.

How to change My Store Country?
Go to iTunes Store, at the Home page, scroll down to find the country selector.
After editing your country, you should need to sync your iPod Touch with the iTunes application to ‘confirm’ the change on your iPod Touch.

Singapore iTunes Store

The Singapore iTunes Store has started operation since 10 July. It is currently serving only iPod Touch customers. iPhone 3G will be launching in Singapore soon. With the launch of iPhone 3G, the store will have more customers. All iPod Touch and iPhone 3G must apply for a iTunes Store Account in order to made full use of the App Store. The App Store has many paid and free apps and games. You may download the apps using your iTunes or your iPod Touch and iPhone 3G 2.0 software. You need to register your credit card in your iTunes Store account to allow you to purchased paid apps and games. Your iTunes must be version 7.7 or above in order to select the Singapore Store Account.
